Mumbai Metro Railway

  • The Mumbai Metro Railway system will cover a distance of 146km and link India’s financial and entertainment capital with its suburbs.
  • The government of the of Maharashtra and the private Reliance Dhirubhai Ambani group will share the costs of the corridor with the private company picking up 74% of the tab.
  • A six coach broad gauge train could have carried the same number of passengers as an eight coach standard gauge train.
  • It means lower operational cost, lower electricity cost.

 

 

Chennai Metro Rail Limited

  • Metro Railway System was mooted for the city of Chennai by S.Shreedharan the DMRC to the Tamil Nadu CM Jay Lalitha.
  • The elevated section of the project is schedule to be operational by 2011 and the entire project is schedule to be completed by the financial year 2014-15.
  • About 55% of the corridors in phase I is underground and the remaining elevated.
  • The Metro Rail Project was included in the 2007-08 state government’s budget, and an amount of Rs. 50 Crores had been sanctioned for preliminary works.
  • The project is estimated to cost around 14,600 Crores for the two corridors totaling 50.1km.
  • The construction started in early 2009 and its expected to be fully completed by 2014.

 

 

Hyderabad Metro Rail

  • Estimated cost of Rs. 12,132 Crores.
  • The project Hyderabad Metro Rail is 71.16km long.
  • PPP Metro Rail project to have been sanctioned by Govt. of India.
  • Global consulting firm Deloitte is the constructing Co. of HMR.
  • The 71km covering three high density traffic corridors of Hyderabad.
  • Speeds of 34kmph on an average to 80kmph maximum.

 

 

Bangalore Metro Railway

  • The total project outlay envisaged is Rs.6395 Crores.
  • The project Bangalore Metro Rail is 42.3kms long.
  • The project report of BML is prepared by DMRC.
  • The first face of the project has commenced in 2007 and complete by 2012.
  • The number of passengers expected to travel on the metro is estimated at 10.20lakhs in 2012 and 16.10lakhs in 2021.
  • Phase I network to about 42km, with 40stations.

 

 

Cochin Metro Railway

  • Estimated to cost Rs. 3,300 crore.
  • The project cochin metro rail is 25kms long.
  • The starting point of Metro rail in Cochin is in Aluva and the proposed ending point in the place called pettah.

 

 

Delhi Metro

  • Operator- Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.
  • Begun Operation- 24th December, 2002.
  • System Length- 76.7km.
  • Number of Stations- 68.
  • The power supply is at 25kV AC through overhead.
  • In the 2008 financial year, it had revenue of $100 million.
